I designed and printed some tiny tea cups to go with my tiny teapot. Unfortunately the two models I tried to print (one in PLA and the other in ABS) turned out very very badly due to the clogged extruder barrel. However, I rather like the design and look forward to printing it properly.

Repairing ABS parts
The spout on the black teapot on the left snapped off as I was trying to clean the model. I don’t have any ABS glue lying around so I tried white glue – which didn’t work at all. Later I held up the broken piece and the body of the teapot to my hot extruder barrel and melted them back together. Clearly not a recommended way to repair a part – but it’s been pretty effective.
Blue platform
As the caption suggests, this is just the foam core build platform placed on top of the wooden platform and taped down with blue painter’s tape. The tape has worked very well for my first PLA print, the teapot. I’ll try this new platform setup in a little bit.
The only problem with that system is…
Not really a problem after all. I’m printing up a (well, another) teapot right now. Having just run the PLA through rather than trying to actually remove the ABS the teapot has these black streaks throughout. I kinda like it.
