I love being able to encode / store / transmit / share data in small form factors in the real world. I’m still learning about such things, but have really enjoyed using RFID sticker tags in various things for puzzles, storing emergency contact info, and other such things. Being able to print small QR code stickers and put them into my notebooks so that I can refer back to outside resources or even my own blog posts has been incredibly helpful as well.
I just saw a very interesting post from @rebane2001 on Mastodon with some information about how QR codes work. While I should have, of course, known that a QR code could be read when skewed, I never thought about how they could be specifically used in this way! I also didn’t know that the patterns were designed to pinpoint the very center of each pixel. It always surprises me1 just how much clever stuff is packed into even the most mundane things around us.
