I just noticed there’s a Twitter feed ( http://twitter.com/CanMakeIt ) following this blog. Since my post titles tend to be more whimsical and self-referential than informative, I feel kinda bad for anyone mislead into clicking on the titles.

I have several websites, but only blog on two. This one, of course, which is really only about two and a half months old. And the other which is a little over two and a half years old. 1 75 days versus 900 days.
After 75 days, this site has significantly more actual followers.

I just saw MakerBot’s blog post saying they finally got in a batch of MakerBot approved PLA. This is supposed to be nigh magical stuff. It prints at a cooler temperature than ABS, it has a low shrinkage factor meaning it won’t warp much if at all, it will stick to blue masking/drafter’s tape not requiring the use of an acrylic build platform, and it’s very clear.
While I was at it, I also ordered an extra brass nozzle, brass barrel, PTFE insulator, ceramic tape, nichrome wire, thermistor, and I asked for some MakerBot stickers to adorn my laptop. :)
I was having some trouble getting my rafts to stick to the build platform until I did the following:
If you’re having raft trouble, do both of the above and don’t look back.
While googling around looking for an answer to which opto-endstop cables go to which endstops and which max/min, I found Kieth’s Electronics Blog. That stuff is mostly way over my head, but his blog is extremely detailed and informative.
