For secretly wanting to abandon my family and get to Maker Faire earlier…

Sometimes I just feel compelled to share nonsense, random thoughts, and sometimes just stuff I want to save
Countdown clock to the right
I couldn’t resist including the MakerFaire Bay Area countdown clock in my sidebar. However, since it is kinda wide for my sidebar, I had to use a quick bit of CSS to shoehorn it into the space. In case you want to do the same:

On the road again
Early tomorrow1 morning I need to drive from the SF bay area up to Chico. On a whim I checked out the MakerBot map to see if there was anyone around in that area. Apparently MakerBot operator “RG MakerBot #853” is out that way.
I think I need to burn a driving CD before I go. :)

Why didn’t they have classes like this when I was in college?
Oh, right, because when I went to college the web didn’t exist yet.
And, even if there was such a class, I wouldn’t have heard about it as a philosphy major.
It’s always the funky ones…

I bought several1 pairs of glasses online recently. They’re so cheap2 that when I order them online I make a point of getting one pair that looks like the pair I’m currently wearing, one pair that is kinda funky, and two or three pairs of glasses that are somewhere between what I’m wearing at the time and funky.
The funniest part is that I invariably3 enjoy wearing the funky pair the most. Out of a $40 order, I’m overjoyed if I get one pair that I really like. In any case, the above is the funky pair with the other four being considerably more conservative. I’ve only been wearing this funky pair for a few hours now, but I’m pretty sure they’ll be my favorite.
What the heck?!?!
I just listened to a song by Amy Winehouse courtesy of Pandora. I was very pleasantly surprised.
MakerFaire car magnets?
I’ve been seeing these around for the last month or so. I think they’re from the Young Maker’s program. At least, that’s what my friend Google tells me.
What would you do?
I watched a show the other day that featured a bunch of rich people. It showed them showing off all the stuff they were spending money on – sports teams, boats, etc.
If I suddenly came into a pile of cash, I’d move to the middle of no where and have a big damn library and a small workshop for making cool stuff.
Perception Filter
Yesterday I had a coworker tell me I’d like the TV show Bones. I was told I reminded them of one of the main characters – smart, arrogant, and completely lacking people skills.
I think it’s a compliment?
