This is actually my second post with the same subject/topic/title. :/
As a joke I did a google search for “cell phone for elderly” because a friend of mine has this ridiculous habit of taking pictures with his iPhone UPSIDE down. Sure, it’s easy enough to turn it back upside right – but wouldn’t it just make more sense to simply hold the phone correctly in the first place?
Anyhow, now all the google ads I see are for cell phones for the elderly. Great.
Default Series Title
I block ads, but I find it creepy when google’s autocomplete guesses my query too quickly. For instance, when I was reading one of the later Song of Ice and Fire books (I think season 1 of the show was still going at the time, which makes it slightly less surprising), I went looking for a map of Westeros, so I began to type “song of ice and fire map” into the search box, and it autocompleted the entire query, including the word “map”, after only 2 or 3 characters.
I just tried the query again for comparison, and this time I had to type “song o” to get it to autocomplete the title, and the additional “map” term was not in the suggestions unless I completed the entire title.
@Whosa: *shudder* Man, warn someone before telling a story like that! Holy cow…
What do you use to block ads? I think I’m going to start doing this.
Adblock for Chrome. Of course, there’s a version for firefox too if you’re using that. When I used Safari, I started using PithHelmet, but I found it worked better to just use a custom stylesheet, which should work for any browser (even (gag) IE. I also have a couple of /etc/hosts entries to prevent any assets from being pulled from facebook’s servers. I loath facebook.
