I don’t actually remember the definition of irony.  I do, however, remember the scene from Reality Bites that highlights the importance of knowing the definition. 1

1. Also, I have a friend who refers to things as ironic, when they’re clearly not.  I suspect he might be confusing irony with coincidence.  “Ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife” – now THAT is irony. [↩]
