I was trying to think about what I would print with new ABS colors from MakerBot. Here’s my list:
- Green: Little green army men, dinosaurs, a green lantern ring?
- Yellow: Yellow safety whistles, a yellow ring to defeat the green lantern ring
- Red: Red clown noses, red dice, replacement monopoly houses
- Blue: Naked smurfs
Yeah, I suppose that last one was unnecessary…
One of the suggestions I saw was a TARDIS from Doctor Who for the blue. I’m a bit interested in cutting lengths of the ABS, welding them together, and ending up with an awkwardly multicolored object.
Hi, spoons or sporks, especially for feeding toddlers, maybe even bottles(everything but the nipples), shoe horns, or blue smurfs wearing red shorts?
Well… there was a really good article on the Thingiverse blog about printable plastics and food safety. I’d be especially careful about any printed item for children.
Yeah, I’m loving the Time Lord option.
Since printing a TARDIS I’ve nearly eliminated Z axis wobble. So, I’m really looking forward to re-printing it in blue.
As for welding colored rods together to make a wild multi-colored object… Tie die prints!
Could make some nice safety signs, no-entry and the like. Colour coded custom containers would also be good to store things like lathe tools or tungstens for TIG welding.
I like that idea! Right now I use a library card catalog (emptied out of cards, of course) to keep various small MakerBot, computer, and totally random parts. Printing up some tags for the drawers would be really helpful.
I still think your best idea was to print VOLTRON!
Here’s one better: Five people each buy one color (red, blue, yellow, green, black) and each prints several five lions in their color. Then we all send off four lions to the others.
Distributed Voltrons FTW!
