My best ideas

Always come to me when I’m swamped with work.  Oh well!

I started this post at the beginning of October.  Here I am a few days in… still swamped with work…  and more ideas for random things just popping into my head all the time.  :)

How do you organize your ideas?  Here’s what I like to do.  I own a few domain names.   One of my web hosting companies allows the use of “catch-all” e-mail addresses.  Basically any incorrectly addressed e-mail to a particular domain will be routed to an address of your choosing.  So, what I do is send an e-mail with part of the idea to myself like so:  “ideas.making.a.million.dollars@DOMAIN.com”.   Obviously, I include a longer description of the idea in the subject line and a detailed description in the body of the e-mail.  Later I can search up all of my “idea” e-mails in one go or search for a particular topic.  I suppose I could do all of this by just creating the “ideas@DOMAIN.com”, but it is pretty nice to be able to search for an idea by the e-mail address too.

The power of free

Well, my super comfy couch and sofa are both gone.  My wife was concerned no one would pick them up.  I had no such doubts.  They were super comfy, lightly worn, a nice pleasing light brown color, and in pretty good shape.

I had one e-mail inquiry and someone else took it away.  Both pieces were in our driveway with big “FREE” signs on them written on cardboard.  Someone stopped by earlier today, tried to pick them up, couldn’t do it by himself, took the signs, then came back a few minutes ago to collect both pieces with help.

Years ago while living in Oakland we put a mattress outside our place with a free sign on it.  I think we had put it out in the evening and it was gone before 8:00AM the following day.  Admittedly, that was a high traffic location, near a freeway on and off ramp, but it was taken away VERY quickly.

Free is a funny thing, especially when it comes to physical goods.

This post was from June.  So, those comfy things are long gone hopefully enjoying a very good home now.

I had a dream last night

If that title look familiar, it’s because I’ve used it before1  I don’t remember much about it except that in this dream I lost my pseudo anonymity.

This post was sitting in draft form in WordPress for the last two months.  I have no recollection about this dream any more.  Oh well!  Losing my pseudo anonymity isn’t even that big a deal to me.  It’s funny to me now that I would even have a dream about such a thing.

  1. And, that line twice before. []
